GREEN
2000 - Framework for an
Eco-Nation
NZ Greens vision of ecodevelopment: "Green 2000 shows
how NZ could enter the twenty-first century on track for
a sustainable future. It is a vision of a country where
human needs are met without damage to the other species
which share the earth with us."
The
Guiding Principles of the European Green
Parties
"This document outlines the main points of the
transformation now facing both Europe and the planet as a
whole. The economy - i.e. patterns of consumption and
production - must be adapted to the tolerance of the
natural environment. A new global security structure must
be established in order to achieve world peace based on
fair resolution of conflicting interests. A new vision of
citizenship built on equal rights for all individuals
regardless of gender, age, and race, religion, ethnic or
national origin, sexual orientation, wealth and health
must be realised. These goals must be reached by
democratic means and by strengthening the role of local
communities in the decision-making process."
Global
Climate Change and the World
Bank
"The efforts made by the World Bank (the Bank) and
its off-spring, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to
become leading international facilitators of global
environmental 'governance' and 'sustainable development'
are described and analysed politically... Evidence has
been gathered which suggests that an experiment in
'eco-development' is under way..."
