Value of the Swamp

Shoalhaven Water Supply Scheme

"Downstream of the mining operation the river is impounded to form the Wingecarribee Reservoir, operated by Sydney Water. Wingecarribee Reservoir receives water inflows from Calang Creek running from the township of Robertson through the Wingecarribee Swamp and from water transferred from the Shoalhaven River through Fitzroy Falls Dam and then pumped through the Burrawang Tunnel to Wingecarribee Reservoir. Off takes from Wingecarribee Reservoir are released into the Wingecarribee River flowing to Lake Burragorang, releases through the Glenquarry Cut to Nepean Reservoir or off takes for the Wingecarribee Shire Council's local supply."
